Follow the Christ Way

When a person is troubled or concerned about himself or about someone dear to him, often what he needs most is a realization that he is not alone, that the presence of Christ is with him, that even as he prays Christ is saying to him, “Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be fearful.” “Lo I am with you always.”

What greater strength can you find than the strength that comes to you when you know that Christ, the presence of life, peace, joy, love, life, and substance, is ever within, about, before, and beside you? As Paul said, “Your life is hid with Christ in God.” When you think of yourself as living in the presence of Christ, as surrounded by the love of Christ, as encompassed by the life of Christ, as filled with the joy, the peace, the substance of Christ, the problems that loomed so large in your mind assume their right proportions. With Christ, all things are possible. With Christ, you can do all things. In Christ, you are perfected and healed.

Christ attends you; Christ guards you; Christ inspires you; Christ comforts you; Christ heals you; Christ prospers you. Wherever you go, whatever you do, Christ is with you. Christ is in attendance; Christ is the power at hand that you need to meet every situation. Christ is the light that shines into your mind and heart and makes all things clear. The troubled or unhappy thoughts are dissolved in this light, the sad or depressed feelings are transformed by this light. “For to me to live is Christ.” Christ is your life; Christ is the healing power that restores and renews your body; Christ is the life-giving presence in which you live; Christ is the prospering presence by which you are guided.

Christ inspires you to realize your oneness with Him, your oneness with His life, Truth, and love. “I in them, and thou in me, that they may be perfected into one.” As you meditate on the Christ, as you think of His presence, you come to know that you are one with the Christ, that His power is in you, that His love is in you, that His life is in you, that you have the Mind of Christ. If you are seeking the answer to some problem, be still and know that Christ in you is the way, that in Him is the perfect answer to all things, that in Him Truth is revealed. The more you realize and rely on the Christ within, the more peace, light, and joy you will experience.

Have faith in Christ to direct your every step, to relieve you of all anxiety, to cure every disease, to manage all your affairs, to protect and bless you. You cannot expect too much of the Christ. You cannot have more faith than He is able to fulfill, for Christ is all in all. It is when you look to persons alone for help, when you depend on outer powers alone to heal you or free you, that you may be disappointed, that you may be let down. When you can turn all things over to the Christ, when you follow the Christ way, you find the answers you have been seeking. In following after the Christ, you leave behind the old ways, and take on new life, new joy, new power. You are filled with a sense of purpose and direction. The old things are passed away, and you are become new in Christ.

When you abide in the presence of Christ, you no longer look at yourself or at the world in the same light. Looking with the eyes of Christ, you see perfection. You see past the appearances to the underlying goodness of God. You see past disease to health; you see past poverty to supply; you see past fear to faith; you see past worry and concern to calm confidence.

Listening with the ears of Christ, you no longer hear sounds of discord, hatred, or confusion; you hear the harmony of the universe, you hear the heartbeat of divine love, you hear the voice of praise, you hear the word of truth.

Loving with the heart of Christ, you no longer harbor resentment or hurt or bitterness. You are filled with compassion, with understanding, with forgiveness. You are filled with the Christ love that sees all persons as God sees them, that penetrates the surface appearances and beholds and loves the perfect child of God that every man is created to express.

You are aware now and forevermore of the living, loving presence of the Christ ever with you.
